Looked after, not just handed over

Your business will rely on this system every day, so it can’t be a project that ends when it goes live. Every system we build runs on the same set-up that watches it, backs it up and checks it, around the clock. Here’s exactly what that means.

What happens, every day

All of this is automatic, and none of it is extra. It’s what the monthly fee pays for.
Checked every five minutes
An automatic check visits your system every five minutes, day and night. If it fails twice in a row I get an email, and another when it’s back. You also get uptime and response times in your monthly report.
Backed up every night, test-restored every week
Every night your database and uploaded files (job photos, signatures, signed documents) are copied, encrypted and stored away from the live system. Every Sunday a backup is restored into a blank database and checked table by table, so we know it works before the day you need it. Recent copies are kept daily, older ones weekly and monthly.
Security checked daily
Every day the live system is checked for a secure connection, the safety settings browsers rely on, files that should never be public, passwords or keys accidentally left in the page, and data that anyone could read without signing in. Anything found is fixed and shows up in your monthly report.
Errors spotted as they happen
When something breaks for one of your staff (a form that won’t save, a page that won’t load) the error is recorded with what happened and where, grouped so one problem is one line, and I’m emailed about anything new. No more “it just didn’t work” with nothing to go on.
A monthly report you can actually read
Each month you get a short email and a private link to a one-page report: whether the system stayed up, what we changed, how many people used it, backups and security. It saves as a PDF for your records.
Your domain and the small print watched
If your system runs on your own web address, its renewal date is watched and you’re reminded in good time. Secure connection certificates renew automatically.

The monthly report

On the first of each month you get a short email with the main numbers and a link to the full report. It’s written for you, not for a developer, and it saves as a PDF.

This one is a sample with made-up figures for a made-up salon.

A sample monthly report: online 99.91% of the time, 2,452 visits, 37 new sign-ups, a list of what changed, a chart of visits each day, and sections for security and backups.
A sample report, top half. Yours shows your own system’s figures.

When something goes wrong

Software has bad days. What matters is how quickly it’s noticed and sorted.
  1. 1

    It’s spotted

The five-minute checks and error tracking tell us, often before your staff do.

  2. 2

    We fix it

Fixes are part of the monthly fee. You don’t get a bill for something breaking.

  3. 3

    You’re told

If it affected your team, you hear what happened in plain English, and it’s in that month’s report.

Changes without the risk

Your team keeps working on the real system while changes are made somewhere safe.

Bigger changes are built on a private copy of your system first. You try them there, with a copy of your real data, and they only go live once you’re happy. Your day-to-day system is never the place we experiment.
